Fathy is Finalist in Best Paper Competition
Dr. Hosam K. Fathy, who recently completed his PhD in ME under the supervision of Professors Panos Papalambros and Galip Ulsoy, has been selected as a finalist in the Dynamic Systems and Control (DSC) Best Student Paper Competition at 2003 IMECE in Washington, DC.
The selection process used reviews generated by session organizers as well as additional reviews by the selection committee. The three finalists are:
* Paper No. 42014 "Integrated Plant, Observer and Controller Optimization with Application to Combined Passive/Active Automotive Suspensions," by Hosam K. Fathy (P. Papalambros, and A. Galip Ulsoy)
* Paper No. 41776 "An Intelligent Ultrasonic Based Neuro-Navigation System for Improved Image Guided Neurosurgery," by Jennifer Akers (P. K. Ray and A. Mahajan)
* Paper No. 41592 "Distortion Analysis of Memory-less Nonlinear Sensors," by Sugathevan Suranthiran (S. Jayasuriya)
Each finalist will receive $800 in travel support from the Dynamic Systems and Control Division, in addition to complimentary registration fees to the 2003 IMECE and tickets to the DSCD dinner at the conference. From the three finalists, one will be selected as the winner. All finalists will receive certificates, and the winner will receive an additional honorarium in the amount of $300 and a certificate.
