Haitham Mahmoud Receives CoE Award

ME graduate student Haitham Mahmoud has been selected to receive the College of Engineering's Distinguished Leadership Award. The Distinguished Leadership award is awarded to "a student who has demonstrated outstanding leadership through his/her contributions to the college and/or community."

Haitham helped to organize the 2002 ME Graduate Student Symposium, which was a great success, according to student participants and attendees. Haitham also serves as president of the Ann Arbor Egyptian Student Association (ESA), which organizes activities related to Egypt and the Egyptian community in Ann Arbor, including organizing social gatherings. The ESA also carries out a book campaign to collect books that members may no longer need and ship them to a selected university in Egypt.
