Perkins Participates in Discussion Series

ME Professor Noel Perkins will participate as a panelist in the third in a series of discussions on The Student Experience. The discussion, which will focus on teaching techniques, is titled "Innovative Teaching Techniques to Engage Students and Enhance Learning."
The primary purpose of the discussion series is to identify opportunities to improve the learning environment for students both in and outside of the classroom. The following invited faculty members will describe successful methods for helping student learn and develop:
* Cindy Finelli, Professor of Electrical Engineering and Director of the Learning Center at Kettering University. She will join the University of Michigan in April 2003 as the Coordinator of Engineering Education through CLRT.
* Rob Pasick, Organizational Psychologist who teaches in the Executive Education and in the MBA Programs at the University of Michigan Business School
* Noel Perkins, Professor of Mechanical Engineering, member of the Master Teachers Council and CoE 2001 Thurnau Professor
* Elliott Soloway, Professor of EECS and School of Information, Golden Apple Award Recipient and CoE 2002 Thurnau Professor
The purpose of this panel is to help raise awareness among the faculty, staff and students of effective teaching methods. Each of the panelists will share their ideas and techniques that have achieved positive results for students. The brief panel presentations will be followed by Q&A and discussion.
