Stefanopoulou Receives Faculty Recognition Award


anna,Professor Anna Stefanopoulou ME Professor Anna Stefanopoulou ( https://me-web2.engin.umich.edu/zope/pubdir/bio?uniqname=annastef ) has been selected to receive the University of Michigan 2008 Faculty Recognition Award.

This award is intended for faculty in the earlier phase of their careers who have demonstrated substantive contributions to the University through significant achievements in scholarly research and/or creative endeavors; excellence as a teacher, advisor and mentor; and distinguished participation in the service activities of the University. Eligible candidates include full professors with no more than four years at that rank, associate professors, and assistant professors. The award carries a stipend of $1,000, and will be publicly announced and conferred at a University ceremony on October 8, 2008.

Stefanopoulou's work focuses on automotive powertrain control systems and architectures, vehicle and transportation control, the control of advanced automotive engines, fuel cell power and hydrogen reforming, control of breathing through valves, vanes, and membranes and development of modular controller architectures.

She has received numerous honors, including being named ASME Fellow in 2007. Her previous awards include the Henry Russel Award (2005), Society of Automotive Engineers Ralph R. Teetor Educational Award (2002), and four Ford Innovation Awards. MIT Technology Review named her one of the "World's Top 100 Young Innovators."
