Filipi Recognized by OVPR

zoran filipiThe Office of the Vice President for Research (OVPR) has awarded ME Research Professor Zoran Filipi the 2010 Research Faculty Achievement Award.

This award recognizes members of the research faculty who have demonstrated outstanding scholarly achievements, a specific outstanding discovery, or the development of innovative technology. OVPR has selected Filipi as the recipient of this year's award for his significant contributions to his field of study over time.

Filipi's research interests are hybrid propulsion systems and advanced internal combustion engines.  His alternative propulsion activities are focused on architecture, design and control of electric and hydraulic hybrid powertrains for heavy vehicles, ultra-efficient concepts for a hybrid city car and Plug-in hybrids. Filipi√Ç‚Äô's current emphasis in the IC engine area includes combustion and heat transfer in the Homogenous Charge Compression Ignition (HCCI) engine, optimization of high degree-of-freedom engine systems and engine-in-the-loop integration.  He serves as deputy director of the Automotive Research Center, a U.S. Army Center of Excellence for modeling and simulation of ground vehicles led by U-M.
