Peng and Ahn Win Best Paper

hpengME Professor Huei Peng and his student Changsun Ahn received a Best Paper Award at the 10th International Symposium on Advanced Vehicle Controls (AVEC 2010) held in August in Loughborough, UK. Their paper, "Robust Nonlinear Observer to Estimate Road Friction Coefficient and Tire Slip Angle," was one of three winning papers selected among 159 submissions.

The AVEC series of conferences seeks to foster links between academia and industry, with approximately equal contributions appearing from each. To this end, AVEC provides a range of formal and informal opportunities to publicize and learn about the latest research, share views, and network in a relaxed setting. The content presented at AVEC 2010, while retaining the traditional and vital core subject areas of handling, suspension and powertrain, also included a special emphasis on those topics that will shape the future of the automotive industry most in the long term: alternative propulsion, energy efficiency and intelligent transportation systems.
