Thouless elected Fellow of the Institute of Materials, Minerals, and Mining
ME Professor Michael Thouless has been elected Fellow of the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining in the UK. The Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining (IOM3) is a major UK engineering institution whose activities encompass the whole materials cycle, from exploration and extraction, through characterization, processing, forming, finishing and application, to product recycling and land reuse.
Thouless's research interests include micromechanics modeling of materials, interfacial fracture mechanics and adhesion, mechanical properties of thin films and coatings, toughening mechanisms in polymers, and mechanical properties of structural adhesives.
