Saitou appointed Editor in Chief for IEEE Conference

Kazuhiro Saitou, professor of mechanical engineering, has agreed to serve a three-year term as Editor in Chief for the Conference Editorial Board of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers’ Conference on Automation Science and Engineering (IEEE CASE).

IEEE CASE represents the flagship automation conference of the IEEE RAS and constitutes the primary forum for cross-industry and multidisciplinary research in automation. Its goal is to provide a broad coverage and dissemination of foundational research in automation among researchers, academics, and practitioners. This year’s conference will be held during August in Taipei, Taiwan.

The Conference Editorial Board (CEB), established in 2011, is meant to oversee the peer review process for the papers submitted to the conference. Primarily, it is responsible for ensuring consistency in quality in the review process independent of the organizing committee members that change annually.

As the Editor in Chief, Saitou will supervise four editors and over thirty associate editors to conduct timely, high-quality review of over 300 papers submitted to the conference every year.

At the University, Saitou teaches both undergraduate and graduate courses in Design and Manufacturing, Discrete Design Optimization, and Global Product Development.

Saitou also directs the Algorithmic Synthesis Laboratory and investigates algorithmic and computational synthesis of for mechanical, industrial and biomedical systems.
